I’ve spent the last week buried in new research: Stanford, Pew, Stats Canada, and more. And I made a cool dashboard about it. (!) Most of us just read the headlines: “AI will change everything.” But when you look at the raw data, a stranger story emerges.
The people expected to be the most “fluent” (younger cohorts) are the most anxious. The people building these tools are twice as optimistic as the people using them. And the divide between those who are thriving with AI and those who are secretly worried they’re getting worse at their jobs is growing by the day.
Reality check: The gap isn’t your fault.
You didn’t fail to learn the right “prompt hacks.” You were handed a Ferrari without anyone giving you a driving lesson.
I’ve compiled all the latest research into a new, interactive dashboard over at AILiteracyGuide.com. It’s not a test, and there’s no score. It’s a way to see where you land compared to your demographic and your industry. It takes 2 minutes, and it’s the best way to get a baseline for your own career growth.
The “judgement” problem
In the video, I highlight a critical study from Harvard and BCG.
When we use AI on tasks the AI can’t handle, we get it wrong with high confidence.
AI doesn’t have a “I don’t know” face. It sounds just as authoritative when it’s hallucinating as it does when it is perfectly accurate. This is why “prompt engineering” is a dying skill. Prompts change every time a new model drops.
The only skill that separates the winners from the losers is judgement.
It’s the ability to pause and ask: “How is the AI coming to this conclusion, and do I have the evidence to back it up?”
In this video, I break down:
The massive divide between corporate training and the rest of the world.
Why the “confident error” is the #1 threat to your output.
The three habits of AI Literacy that will keep you relevant for years to come.
You aren’t behind. You’re just in the middle of a massive transition. Let’s make sure you’re on the right side of the data.
